Plein Air Trio

Plein Air Trio

The practise of Plein Air painting – or “painting out-of-doors” is at the core of
landscape imagery.

White Wall North’s exhibit: Plein Air Trio pays tribute to John Joy.
Joy is considered to be a senior statesman of this genre in Ontario.
Widely collected his technique is fresh and immediate. Arabella
magazine has described John as one of their “Artists to collect”.

This exhibition was conceived of by Sam Paonessa – both friend and
( at one time ) student of Joy’s. The DNA of Northern Ontario in
Algonquin Park and Georgian Bay is Paonessa’s confident and
romantic contribution.

Giuseppe Pivetta anchors the Trio with his profound gray colouration’s.
Pivetta paints essence and legend into urban Toronto.
His devotion to Plein Air practise is both private and prolific, consistently
producing intimate vignettes of the city.
