Born of Italian parentage in Villenouvelle, France, in 1938, he begins his artistic training at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Toulouse. Upon his arrival in Canada, in 1957 he enrolls for
private lessons at the studio of Albert Chiarandini who invites him to paint en plein air.

In the early sixties Pivetta attends evening art classes at Central Tech with Telford Fenton
(painting) and Zimmerman (drawing). He studies with these artists for several years and paints with Chiarandini whenever possible. As well, Giuseppe takes classes at Northern Secondary School and OCA.

Pivetta’s work is found in numerous private and corporate collections in Canada and
throughout the world. In 1987 Sotheby’s of Canada auctioned a piece of his work donated to the Ornithology Gallery for the “Art for Birds” auction. In 1988 Wyeth of Canada, a
well known pharmaceutical company, featured his work in it’s annual calender.

Pivetta has taught painting workshops for a number of organizations
including the Toronto Separate School Board. He has been exhibiting since 1972.
Exhibition highlights include: La Parete Gallery, Hart House, The Montreal Museum of
Fine Arts and Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery.
